Cowan: A "Cowan" refers to someone who falsely claims to be a Mason or who attempts to gain access to Masonic knowledge and rituals without being properly initiated into the fraternity. Essentially, a Cowan is an imposter, someone who tries to infiltrate Masonic circles without having the requisite credentials or understanding of Masonic principles.
Eavesdropper: An "Eavesdropper" is someone who illicitly listens to or overhears private conversations or rituals, especially those related to Freemasonry. The term originates from the act of clandestinely listening under the eaves of a building to overhear conversations. In Masonic context, an eavesdropper is someone who attempts to listen in on Masonic ceremonies or discussions without being properly invited or initiated into the fraternity. Eavesdropping is considered highly disrespectful within Masonic tradition, as it violates the privacy and sanctity of Masonic rituals and teachings. With a combined experience of over a century as Freemasons, both Brother R. Scott Stanley, PM, and myself, Brother Harold Rubin-Smith, proudly uphold the sacred principles of our fraternity. Rest assured, we are unequivocally dedicated to our craft and hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity.
